Perfect Stride Equestrian is a dressage program for riders of every age and ambition — from a first lesson to the winner's circle.
Our approach
Dressage is a long conversation between horse and rider, and we don't rush it. Whether you ride classical or western, the work is the same: an honest seat, a soft hand, and a horse that grows stronger, sounder, and more confident with every ride.
Riders here have gone from their first dressage test to year-end championships — and their horses have come along better for it. That's the measure we care about.
Programs
Private lessons in classical and western dressage for all ages and experience levels — on your own horse or one of ours. New to horses entirely? That's a fine place to start.
Full and partial training rides that develop your horse correctly and consistently — from starting youngsters through confirmed show horses.
Preparation, warm-up, and ringside support at schooling and recognized shows, including SLADS shows and breed presentations. We'll get you down the centerline ready.
We regularly host visiting clinicians — recent guests include Tommy Fahey Horsemanship and Jamie Lawrence-Slocum — with auditing open to the community.
Your trainer
USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist Kylee Matheny brings more than 15 years of professional equestrian experience to her training program. Specializing in dressage for non-traditional and traditional breeds, gaited western dressage, and gait training for a variety of gaited horses, Kylee is passionate about helping horse-and-rider teams build strong fundamentals, confidence, and lasting success.
An active competitor at USDF Regionals, the Pony Cup, NWHA Nationals, and other premier events, Kylee combines proven training methods with an individualized approach tailored to each horse and rider's goals. Whether you're preparing for the show ring, advancing through the levels, or simply looking to improve your partnership with your horse, her program is designed to support meaningful progress every step of the way.
At the heart of the program is a welcoming community where riders can learn, grow, build friendships, and enjoy the journey. Success looks different for everyone—and Kylee is committed to helping each client achieve their own version of it.
In the ring
Nintendo Gameboy RSF — "PacMan" — took Champion Colts/Geldings on back-to-back days at the SLADS May Classic, scoring 75.7% and 77% before his second birthday.
PSE horses and riders compete at SLADS shows, breed shows, and national venues across the season.
Students have moved from first lessons to championship ribbons — riding events and clinics they once wouldn't have considered.

We're based at Small Dog Farms in Wildwood, Missouri — St. Louis County, an easy drive from St. Louis. The best way to know if a barn is right for you is to stand in the aisle. Come stand in ours.
